Adventures In Pokemoning!

Chapter 5: Pewter

It was nearly 2 hours later when the rolling Hummer came to a screeching halt, flinging Ami clear into the windsheild.

"ARGH!!" She screamed as she flailed helplessly, blood pouring from the crack in her skull.

On a completely different note: "We're here~!" AJ announced, leaping out of the car in a single bound, Mr Jiggles following closely. She pointed in gleefulness. "There's a Pokemon Center. You guys should get a room. And talk to the nurse. Yeah. the Nurse is nice." A smile creeped onto the lips of AJ as she recalled a distant memory. "Nice..."

Carson and Stephles stumbled out of the car. It had been a long trip; Ami had blown a fuse since AJ kept copying her whenever she spoke, and was being quite obstinate. Even to the point of having an item-throwing fight that distracted AJ enough for her to let go of the wheel and sending them spiraling into several unfortunate trees that would never know the pains of adulthood. Carson and Stephles had gripped their seats so tightly that not only no man tool on the earth could pry them of their grip, but that the heavy duty leather seats had ripped in several places so bad that the seats practically no longer existed. Needless to say, driving through that forest had been nothing short of a miracle.

It was even more of a miralce that the egg that was in Ami's care hadn't cracked, and was still in mint condition, especially since she never wore a seatbelt and had flown around the car several times.

Stephles fell to the ground and gave it a hug. How she loved Earth. Still, solid, and for the most part, nonlife-endangering. From now on, she'd walk, even if she had no legs. She stared up at the pokemon center. They had beds. Oh how she loved earth-bound beds.

Carson stood there and took some pain medicine. She felt she was gonna need more than the travel-size bottle that she grabbed. She was beginning to wonder if she had made the right choice by not tossing Ami off that cliff when they were five.

AJ stood there triumphantly. She had made it through the towns. This was an especially important since this time, no one was mauled too bad, she only took out fourteen mailboxes, and only HALF of her Hummer was covered in blood. Yup. Job well done.

Ami, blood pooling into a lovely crimson puddle on the ground, had quite enjoyed the ride. The gaping crack in her skull hurt a bit, but she was nearly sure that she'd had worse. Well, she was pretty sure. Her memory wasn't working too well right then.

It was silent for a moment.

"Are we going in?" Stephles impatiently asked.

"Meine Hosen tanzt gern......Das Lineal ist rot und ist nicht kaputt....warum..." Ami gave a weak reply.

"Oh crap, she broke again." Carson sighed. "Can someone smack her?"

AJ gleefully volunteered, and beat Ami over the head with a crowbar. Wait....crowbar...?

"warum liebst dich-" -BAM- "...thank you......." Ami staggerd as she lost consciousness.

"Look! a pokemon center!" AJ redirected.

"I'll get us a room. AJ, you said you lived here, right? Will you be fine?" Carson asked politely, even though knowing full well that AJ'd be fine.

"Bah." was her reply.

Carson shrugged, knowing full well that that would've been the answer. She turned to leave and walked through the automatic doors of the beige Pokemon Center.

AJ glanced at a nonexistant watch. "Oh hey, I've got to go, I'm being expected." She rubbed another fancy, but nonexistant mustache, grabbed Mr Jiggles, and dove into the car. A second later, she was speeding down the street with a "MEET ME BY THE GYM LATER!!!!" as she leaned out the window to wave good-bye. There was a swerve, some screams, some crashing noises, and she turned out of sight.

Stephles, waving slightly, turned to Ami who had appearently lost consciousness. She thought about taking her to the hospitol, but then again, AJ went away and she didn't know where it was.

Carson suddenly came out of the Pokemon Center. "Alright, we're good to go." She handed Stephles a key. "That's the key to our room, which is upstairs."

"What about that?" Stephles pointed to the blob of Ami lying nearly lifelessly on the ground.

"Oh. Right."

They stood there for a while.

"I'm hungry." Stephles said, feeling her tummy scream.

"Let's get some food." Carson Suggested.

"Who said food?" Ami shot up, completely healed and blood free. The pool of blood that was there recently was gone too.

"How-? what-? WTF?!?!!" Carson stammered. Stephles backed away a bit behind Carson.

"Food. food. food. food. food. I want food, I LOVE FOOD!!!" Ami ran around in a circle, crashed through the Pokemon center's window and began to scream "FOOOOOOD!!!!! WHERE'S THE FOOD YOU SICK ****?!?"

Sounds of horrendous chaos filled the air.

"We should go to our rooms." Stephles suggested.

"Indeed." Carson replied.

They both took preemptive measures; which was mostly sprinting into the PC, edging quickly along the wall and making a break for the stairs before Ami spotted them and everyone would think that they were associated with her.

They made it into their room and closed the door just in time to here a "OH MY MOM, SHE ATE THE WHOLE WHEEL OF CHEESE!!!" and a "CHANC-AHHHHGG!!!"

When they shut the door, the atmosphere immediately brightened up. Almost as if it was Ami as the source of all their problems...... *cough*

They surveyed the room. It was small, but they were free, so they couldn't complain. There were two bunk beds on either side of the room, a window and a table. The floor was a mold-colored white, and the walls were painted teal. Stephles sat down.

"These are really comfy~" She rolled around; they were nice beds, warm, cozy and soft; much better than the ground that they had to sleep on last time.

Carson threw her back pack on the bed above Stephles' and climbed up.

"You're right, these are nice." She pat the bed.

"Did Ami ever bring a backpack?" Stephles wondered aloud. "I don't ever remember her getting one."

"That couldn't be, she's had alot of stuff. If she didn't have a backpack, then the only other place...." Carson trailed off. "Oh my mom....."

Stephles saw where this was going. She frowned.

That. Hair.

Ami's. Hair.

the scourge of all that was hairless. Til recently, Ami had no idea that her hair was a portal. She did, unfortunately, and could cart everything she owned into her hair. Oh sure, there were times when she herself was nearly strangled by her own hair, and times when she put something in and it vansished completely. But SERIOUSLY. she put her hair over the egg for Poop's sake!

"Moving right along..." Carson pushed the memory away. It was too foreboding.

"Oh!" Stephles remembered. "The AJ wants us the meet at the gym tomorrow."

"Really, what for?" Carson asked.

Stephles pondered for a moment. "I don't know. I guess we'll find out."

It was quiet for a moment.

"hey Carson,"

"Yes?"

"I don't want to be a pokemon trainer..." Stephles said sheepishly.

"Oh?" Carson urged her on.

"I mean, I like the pokemon, and i want to fight, I just don't want to challenge gyms and all that." She rubbed the edge of her Jacket with her thumbs.

"Well, that's okay, I mean, what else would you do, if not be a trainer?" Carson asked.

"A coordinator." Stephles replied.

"Okay, then be a coordinator. You don't have to do the stuff that me and.... it does. Do you know when the next coordinator contest is?"

"They're held all the time, I think...."

"Do you know where they are?"

"We'd have to ask Ami..."

"Really...? Crap."

Then, the atmosphere was ruined; just as ruined as an english dub, as Ami and her Gastly burst through the door, panting heavily.

"Holy chumbuckets!" She weazed.

The Gastly looked maliciously gleeful, and giggled with pleasure as it danced around the room.

"Don't go out there, there's uh... a... polio epidemic!" Ami obviously lied; and with one swift movement, recalled gastly, took out the egg, and leapt into bed. "I'm going to sleep! good-zzzzzzzz....."

Carson and Stephles, stunned, decided to not go downstairs, even if they were hungry. It just wasn't worth it. Ami had probably destroyed to place, and the cops would come and bust a cap in all their asses, or the trio would be sent to a "pound me in the ass" federal prison. So, to prepare for the uncouth hell that would happen, they went to bed. Twas better to get some sleep now then later in a cell. soap.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Carson woke up slowly. Surprised to see that the cops hadn't busted in and beaten them all with nightsticks, she was even more intrigued to find that the sounds of chaos from the night were no where to be heard. Confused and suspicious, she got up only to find that her legs decided to stop working, and she fell to the floor in a flop. Annoyed, she drug herself over to her backpack and pulled out her little bottle of pain relievers.

She popped out a few into her hand and swallowed them.  She sighed, hoping the effects would kick in faster.

She waited for a while, and turned as Stephles got down from the top bunk.

"Mornin..." She mumbled as she trudeged over to the bathroom to change.

"Good morning." Carson replied gloomily. 'stupid legs...'

It was a couple of minutes later as Carson regained leg strength, and Stephles came out of the bathroom.

Her hair was brushed lazily, and she wore her striped jacket, with her black pants. She gave a yawn and stood next to Carson.

Her eyes got wide suddenly.

"Where's Ami...?"

Carson grunted an annoyed sighed, and got up, legs much better. She looked over at Ami's empty bunk to confirm her fears. "Oh my mom..."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ami sat at a table peacefully munching on several Pop tarts. Gastly sat across from her, eating Pokemon food contently.

Everything seemed fine in the Pokemon center, trianers sat at tables eating food as well, and the nurses and nurse pokemon went about their duties almost as if nothing from last night had happened. The atmosphere was ironically pleasent, even with Ami present, and the sun shone slightly through the tinted windows in an almost creepily pleasent fashion.

"So, where'd you come from?" Ami struck up a conversation.

"Gastly, Gas, Gas, Gastly." It said. It rolled out its long tongue and wrapped it around its' food. It swallowed and looked up in sarcastic contentment.

"So... I know We've had some differences, but i think we should be comrades. Let's strive to beat gyms and be a pokemon blah blah blah."

"Gas."

"Hey. You know I don't speak Spanish..."

"Gastly, Gastly."

"Okay, fine. I understand how demoralizing it is to be placed into a bargain bin, but come on, that's in the past. You're with the coolest bunch of trainers around!"

"Tly."

"Right. well, I know that i haven't been in that many battles..."

"Gast."

"...and i only have one pokemon..."

"Gastly."

"Oh hey, that's too far. I hurt."

"Gastly."

"It's okay... sigh.... Okay, here's the pickle: You help me battle, and I get you delicious foodstuffs."

"Gastly. Gassssssssssstly......"

"Right. Glad we could reach an understanding." Ami took out more food and loaded Gastly's plate, who danced with glee.

Carson and Stephles approached the table, looking nervous.

"Ami.... What did you do....?" Carson asked warily. "We heard utter chaos from upstairs... what the crap just happened. It's like everyone's been brain washed!"

Stephles shivered. "It scared me...."

Ami ate the last of her food. "I wouldn't say brain washed.... More like Hypnosis..."

Carson and Stephles sat down at the table and sighed annoyedly. She had caused the pokemon center to nearly fold inward on itself, and yet was able to cover her tracks by hypnotizing and removing the memories. She and Gastly had gotten good. No prison today, at least.

"Let's eat and then we'll go to the Pokemon center. AJ's probably waiting for us, or at least we can challenge the gym leader and wait for her to show up. Not that we know what she wants..." Carson reasoned.

"I'm hungry though...." Stephles squeaked.

"They gots foods up at the front." Ami replied, recalling Gastly so it could rest for a bit.

"I'll get us some." Carson got up and went to the front.

yup. An army runs on its' stomach, so they needed to eat so they could run too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was at least noon when the trio had finally made it to the Gym. It wasn't too impressive, as far as what they thought gyms were supposed to look like, and AJ wasn't anywhere to be seen.

The gym was fairly tall, and very grey. There were decorative rocks lining the edge of the building, and trainers were mingling around with their pokemon, assessing whether they had the skills or not.

Carson, Ami and Stephles walked inside. It was pretty barren, just like the outside, except there was a ring in the middle of the room made for pokemon battles. They looked across the room to see several trainers gathered around a throne-like chair.

"What!?!"

"What do you mean you won't battle!!"

"She Says she waiting for some people!!"

"That's ridiculous! We were here first! besides! they ain't here are they!?!?!"

A loud familiar booming voice silenced them. "Hey you little pooheads, get out of here or i'll om nom nom!!"

'AJ....?' the three thought with surprise.

The trainers surrounding the throne gloomily walked out. They'd have to wait their turn.

"Friends!" The same familiar voice called out.

Carson, Ami and Stephles looked up to see...

"It's me! Super AJ!!" AJ stood up on her throne to pose a pose as she greeted the three very surprised trio.

"You're.... the gym leader...? Carson asked with very surprise.

"Indeed I am!" AJ Flaunted with majestic AJness.

"Oh my mom." Ami blankly muttered in near fluffstic disbelief.

"I am the Gum Leader of Rock and I challenge you!" AJ declared with unrealistic seriousness and ferocity.
